My perfect weekend would take place in my quaint but exciting hometown of Springfield, Missouri. I would want to take advantage of all of Springfield's artistic ventures. During the day I would head over to Springfield's Moxie theater to take in a couple of independent films while sitting in vintage theater seats pulled from Springfield's own original Landers theater. I would also enjoy a cold beer there and just soak up the atmosphere.
Once I left the Moxie, I would head downtown for one of Springfield's monthly Art Walk festivals, where I could enjoy the work of many local artists. Artists can display paintings, sculptures, or anything they have created. I would also check out some of the local bands playing during Art Walk, as Springfield is home to an excellent burgeoning music scene. Sometime during the proceedings, I would stop in at Maria's to have some chicken fajitas and check up on the latest sports scores. Maria's is the finest authentic Mexican restaurant Springfield has to offer.
If I was from out of town, I would stay at Springfield's own Doubletree Inn, a charming motel located near the highway that offers fantastic service with a smile and rooms that are always pristine. While Springfield may not be a traditional vacation sport, it's my favorite place to spend a weekend. |
